Information for parents
Dear parents,
Welcome to Feng Hua Chinese School. So that students learn Chinese well here, and so the school can run smoothly, please read and follow these notes.
1. Enrolment and fees
- Please fill in the student information carefully, accurately, and completely so the school can contact you. If your details change, tell the school so we can update them.
- Fees are charged each half year. Before a half year ends, the school emails a payment notice. Please pay the next half year’s fees on time and keep the receipt or transfer record. If payment is late or missing, the school cannot guarantee the place.
- Because of classroom space and other limits, the school does not offer make-up lessons for sick leave or personal leave, and fees cannot be carried into a later term.
- If you need a refund in special circumstances, email info@fenghua.com.au at least five days before the first or third term starts. The school will arrange the refund. Refunds are not accepted in the second or fourth term. The refund fee is $20. Fees cannot be carried into a later term or transferred to another person.
- The school does not hold classes on public holidays. Please take that into account when you choose a class time.
- Campus and class transfers are arranged once, before each term starts. After a term starts, the school no longer accepts transfer applications. You may submit a transfer form in advance. The school will try to arrange a place, but transfers depend on class numbers, rooms, and other factors the school cannot control. A place cannot be guaranteed.
- The school may change the year levels and classes at after-school campuses according to rooms and class size. Please choose a campus carefully.
- In special cases, such as a teacher’s sudden illness, the school may not have time to arrange a relief teacher. The school will then combine classes or arrange a later online make-up lesson.
2. Learning and safety at school
- Please drop off and collect your child on time. The school is not responsible for children before or after class. Outside class time, parents are responsible for their child’s safety.
- If a student cannot attend, email the teacher before class. For the missed lesson and homework, check the teacher’s homework email and help your child catch up.
- Remind students to stay safe at break. They must not leave the school grounds to play or shop, and they must not play dangerous games. They may play only where a teacher is supervising.
- Remind students to look after classroom equipment. They must not use equipment without the teacher’s permission. Damage must be paid for.
- Do not send children to school with a lot of money or valuables. Lost items are the family’s responsibility.
- After class, check the teacher’s homework email and make sure students finish the work carefully and on time.
- Teachers’ emails are for homework and school notices. If you want to talk with the teacher about your child’s learning, please book a time and speak after class.
- If a student repeatedly and seriously breaks school rules and disrupts the class, the school will contact the parents. If the behaviour does not improve after several conversations, the school may ask the student to leave.
- Please follow traffic and parking rules around the school. At the Epping campus, the speed limit on site is 10 km/h.
- Students must not bring food that contains nuts, and they must not share food.
- Older students may bring a device needed for class, and may use it only to open learning materials and complete the teacher’s tasks. At school, use of devices and the internet must follow the law and must not invade anyone’s privacy.
- The school may take photos at events and use them in school publicity. Thank you for your understanding.
- If a student has a medical condition, tell the school promptly and complete a Medical Condition Form for the class teacher to keep.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
